Due to power outages and the extended time that NIPSCO and Kosciusko REMC need to restore all electricity, the city of Warsaw has announced it will again opening a cooling center on Sunday.
Warsaw Mayor Joe Thallemer says the Pete Thorn Center, 800 N. Park Ave., Warsaw, will open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. for those affected by the power outages. NIPSCO is also bringing staff to set up and serve ice, water and food.
Thallemer says NIPSCO has 85 linemen now working in Kosciusko County restore power to approximately 1,500 customers who are still without electricity following Friday afternoon’s storm.
Temperatures are expected to rise to 95 degrees on Sunday. Thallemer is urging those without power to utilize the cooling center.
NIPSCO and KREMC say it may be until possibly late Sunday before complete power is restored.
